Bikes and Biomes

I know strange title to a blog post, but that is life in our house. Bikes were all the fun last week. Cora got her first Bike, all the kiddos got new helmets, and Ethan got an Adult Bike because he is about to pass me up in height. Cora is loving her Bike with Training wheels, and it is pure JOY to watch her ride. Love watching her experience new things.
And Biomes well that is where we were in Science this past week. We made desert Biomes, with brown construction paper, gold glitter paint for the sand, the littles cut and colored animals that lived in a desert Biome, and the big boys wanted to get their art on and draw their own desert animals.
Fun week, thankful for God's Blessings. Even in the midst of me being a tired mommy I wouldn't trade any of it.

Being Gracie's Voice Helping Her find Her Baba and Mama

Gracie is an amazing little girl that has grown up with our daughter in the orphanage. I found out about Gracie from another adoptive mama who was adopting another little girl from the same orphanage. See these girls used to be a group of four. Four little girls brought together by the worst of circumstances, but given each other as Forever Sisters.
So each of the other little girls has found their Forever Families, and Gracie has been so happy to see her best friends and sisters find their Mama and Baba. But now its Gracie's turn at a Forever Family.
That day we went to the orphanage with Cora it rocked our world. Gracie wasn't just a picture she was real. She has a heart and joy that we will never forget. She would bounce back and forth between Joe an myself rubbing our face and hugging us and calling us Baba and Mama.  It just about ripped this mama's heart out to leave her behind. That day as she watched Cora, the last of her friends getting ready to leave I could see the desperation in her eyes and longing for her Forever Family to take her home. I told her I would try my hardest to find her Baba and Mama and tell them what a wonderful blessing they would be getting if they adopt her.
See Gracie's file has a lot of unknowns. But just meeting her and seeing her Joy and Love I would hate for someone to miss the blessing of Gracie. Whatever mental issue they say she has is hard to pinpoint because she honestly acts so normal.  One of the main reasons why they say something is wrong is because she has a hard time speaking words clearly.  We asked them if she has ever had a hearing test because that could be a big reason why she is not speaking clearly. She is very smart about what is going on around her. She was lecturing our daughter Cora on how she needed to help mama sweep, and do laundry and not to be lazy but help. It was so funny. She even counted to a hundred for us. :) Precious I tell you.
Gracie is Joy, She loves to Laugh, Snuggle, Play, Loved my other children and interacted with them. My prayer for Gracie is she gets the chance of a Forever Family, they will be blessed beyond measure with this sweet girl.
Please contact me at if you are interested in adopting Gracie.

Joy in the Little Things

I don't want to live with regret as a mom. It is really hitting me to embrace each and every moment and find Joy. I mean real Joy in what the world sees as mundane like laundry, cooking dinner, bathing your little ones, tucking your kids in to bed, homeschooling and the list goes on. This is a season, one that goes by so fast. I want my kids to remember me being Joyful and snuggling up with them when they needed me to, and making messes because it is fun too.

Today was one of those days to find the Joy as we papered mache our Earth's for Science Project. Glue dripping down everyone's arms, and Mia having glue in between her little toes because she wanted to be a big girl and spilled glue everywhere.

And a brother who wanted to play beauty shop with the girls and paint their toes and put make-up on them.

These are the moments that I never want to forget or miss the joy in this journey of Motherhood. Some may wonder why we would homeschool, why have five children, adopt and so on. We love it and feel totally blessed even in the craziness that is our family. It is all because of God that we find our JOY. Praying you find your Joy today.

A Joyful heart makes a cheerful face, But when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken. Proverbs 15:13

A Joyful heart is good medicine, But a broken spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22

Becoming Sisters and Best Friends

I have to say this relationship is a gradual progression. Mia went from the only girl to sharing everything, and Cora went from fighting for everything that was put before her to learning to gently share.
But Our God is so faithful and this morning he gave me a beautiful glimpse of what will be a lifetime of Forever Sisters and Best Friends.
Cora is taking on the big sister role so beautifully and is learning how to be a bit more gentle and loving as that is shown and lived out before her, and little Mia is learning to Love and Share with a sister.
Thank you Lord for this glimpse. So thankful for our two China Blessings and for our Sweet Boys.
